Someone I know has had consistent tension headaches for two weeks. At first the CT was clear but his dr decided to add another d-dimer test.
D-dimer is useful in excluding blood clots in your bloodstream. A high level of d-dimer means your body is working really hard to get rid of the clots in your blood.
The test came back the next morning and luckily his d-dimer is also negative.
It is good to have some Advil (ibuprofen) every 4 hours if you are having consistent headache and cleared for blood clots. It is 500 mg per pill.
If you have aspirin instead, the maximal dosage in a day is 500mg so never go above that. Aspirin has the additional benefit of preventing platelet from activating. But definitely consult a dr first before taking anything for a headache.
