Cancer screening programs that have changed our lives

Cancer that can be screened for:

  • breast cancer from the age of 50 for low risk population;

  • colorectal cancer from the age of 50 for low risk population;

  • cervix cancer from the age of 25 for women;

  • prostate cancer from the age of 50 for men;

  • uterus cancer for post-menopausal women;

  • lung cancer (chest x ray)

  • skin cancer

  • thyroid cancer

Ask your GP for cancer screening timelines tailored for you.

For example, as a first direct relative of a stage IV CRC patient whose cancer onset is before the age of 50, I am a medium risk individual that has to be screened at an earlier time than the low risk public. Let your GPs know your family history so that they can decide the best screening time for you.
